When does this part need to be replaced? You need to replace this handle insert when you notice physical damage or when the fridge handle itself becomes loose or detaches. Also look for visible plastic damage (cracks or broken off) or stripped threads when the mounting screws can no longer tigyen securely into the plastic.
Why They Fail: These inserts are made of rigid ABS plastic. Over time, the constant pulling force required to break the magnetic vacuum seal of a fridge door fatigues the plastic. This causes the insert to crack or snap where it meets the metal door screws.
